Love Yourself Series - Rachel look me a long time to realize the best love was self love
— rachel

I am so excited to introduce you to Rachel. I was so intrigued to meet her myself. As a health and spiritual practitioner, Mom and local business entrepreneur, I wanted to learn more about her, and her views on self-love. Rachel is a level 2 Reiki practitioner and co-owner of a local business, Pure Living Enthusiast. Rachel is all about self-love of both her body and soul.

This is rachel

" I find the more love I have for myself, the more love and understanding I have for others."

Why are you passionate about self-love?

I think I'm just passionate about love in general, I always have been. It took me a long time to realize the best love was self love. But it was once I had my sons that I realized how important it was for me to be able to love myself. I'm a better mother to them when I am gentle on myself. I find that the more love I have for myself the more love and understanding I have for others.

What do you do for yourself to recharge and to encourage self-love?

I love meditation, yoga and floating! (If you haven't tried a float I definitely recommend Modern Gravity). But probably my most favourite thing to do to recharge is my nightly snuggles with my boys and one of our pups. There really isn't a better feeling than little hands wrapped around yours to melt the world away

What qualities about yourself do you love and appreciate?

My sense of humour... I'm seriously like a one women comedy show!

... I also really appreciate how much I feel. I used find this to be a downfall but the older I get the more I realize that it's a blessing to be able to feel so much. It gives me a different level of understanding for others trials in life.

I've also always loved that I'm a bit of a dreamer, but also a super hard worker. All of these traits are what allows me to be a good mom and business owner.

What demands in your life hold you back from making time for yourself?

I'm the only thing that holds me back. I would like to say being a mom, a business owner, part time work or any of the other bizillion things I do in a day. However, I'm the only one that can make the time and I don't always. I think as moms and business owners we are always thinking about the next thing and it takes a very serious conscious effort to put yourself on that list.

Do you have a favourite quote or a book that encourages you to put yourself first?

I have read a million books on self-love and I honestly don't think I have a favourite. I have taken something valuable from every single one of them.

My favourite quote is from the movie True Romance "That's the way it goes... but sometimes it goes the other way too!"

I think that in life and in self-love we have ups and downs but also so so so so many great things too. It just reminds me to be gentle with myself.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

I would grab me by my wrinkle free little cheeks and say "hey you!!! You literally have no idea the ups and downs you are gonna go through but no matter what happens your tummy ponch is going to literally be your very last worry so just keep your head up and tell us how much you love us every single time you look in the mirror! You are going to make epic mistakes but also have epic successes... and so, so, so much love! Just live and know that even if you don't listen to this we turn out so much better than you can imagine right now.

Thank you, Rachel, for working with us, for being open and vulnerable about self-love and giving back to a community of women who want to grow and connect.
